Born under a dictatorship, witness to a popular uprising (some would call it a revolution) and a transition to democracy. Lived in the mother of all republics, then moved to the mother of capitalism, to end up as citizen of a constitutional monarchy. All this before I turned 30. Politics infused my life. I had to make sense of it, so I became a scholar of political science.
My experiences influenced also my research interests: democracy, nationalism, and technology. These concepts are present in all my projects, which you can see described in more detail under their respective headings.
I believe in the idea of the public intellectual, an academic that engages with and contributes to the society. As such, I make a constant effort to share my knowledge to the wider public by maintaining an active media presence, an overview of which you can see here.
